What is Medio Oriente e Dintorni?

Medio Oriente e Dintorni is a project conceived in July 2018 by Tommaso Khalid Valisi with the aim of telling the Italian-speaking public the beauties of the “Islamic world”. Over time, articles have been brought about books, films, music, history, sports, culture in all its forms and much more, ranging both within what is the “classical Islamic world” and within the connections that the latter has and has had over time with the rest of the globe.

Medio Oriente e Dintorni in fact, while seeing its focus on the “Islamic world”, it is not a “religious” but a cultural project and within it you can also find peoples, cultures and authors who have nothing to do with Islam itself but who are however connected to the fate of that world. Examples are: the history of Ethiopia and that of Genghis Khan, the links of H.P Lovecraft with the Arab-Islamic world and those of Holland with the Turkish world and finally the Mizrahim Jews and the Yazidis. To date, the entire Medio Oriente e Dintorni project is the result of the free work of Tommaso Khalid Valisi, but he is open to any economic collaboration.

Where and how is Medio Oriente e Dintorni available?

Initially available only as a WordPress blog, over time the Middle East and Surroundings project has also expanded to podcasts (available on: Apple Podcast, Spreaker, Spotify, iHearthRadio, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Deezer, Podcast Addict, JioSaavn and Podchaser) with over 450 episodes and over 300 videos, available on ours Youtube channel. Except in particular cases, at least 3 contents per week are produced per average; most of the content is also available in English and there is also an English-language podcast channel starting in January.
